“What is truth?”
John 18:38 (ESV)
Every one of us is searching for something.
Some are searching for success. Others for purpose, happiness, acceptance, or peace. But beneath every search lies an even deeper question:
What is true?
This is the story of my own search.
I have been an atheist. I have belonged to a religious cult. I have embraced the belief that all religions ultimately lead to the same God. I have questioned everything I thought I knew. Along the way, I became a physician, husband, father, teacher, musician, and traveler, discovering that the pursuit of truth extends far beyond the walls of a classroom, laboratory, or church.
Over the course of more than four decades, God has used ordinary moments—and extraordinary ones—to challenge my assumptions, expose my blind spots, and patiently lead me toward Himself.
This is not the story of someone who always had the answers.
It is the story of someone who spent a lifetime learning to ask better questions.
Each chapter can be read on its own, but together they tell one continuous story—a journey from skepticism to faith, from certainty to humility, and from searching for truth to discovering that truth is ultimately found not in an idea, but in a Person.
My hope is not that you will simply agree with my conclusions. Rather, I hope these chapters encourage you to examine your own beliefs with honesty, courage, and an open heart.
After all, the most important questions in life deserve nothing less.
Jesus said,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 (ESV)
