The young boy was engrossed in a conversation with his grandmother. She was reading the “Wizard of Oz”, a favorite story of his. It was an endearing moment made even more special since his grandmother passed away a few months earlier. His grandmother was a computer montage created with artificial intelligence (AI) by utilizing earlier videos of her.
AI is rapidly transforming our lives; it can even enable people to seemingly talk to the dead. There was a recent science fiction series that had an episode based upon this future possibility but it is now a reality for many.

Some may object to this technology, fearful that it may be preying on one’s emotions. There is some truth to this. There are times that I dearly wish I could communicate with loved ones who have passed on-my parents, former business partners, and friends. Like many of us, they live on in our photographs, videos, and memories. How special would it be to interact with them, as if they were still alive? And yet there would always be some regret since I know this is not the real person. Is there a way that we will ever be truly able to talk to the dead? Can we ever bring the dead back to life?
…Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

Thanks be to God that He has given us the glorious answer! I chose to devote my energies to speaking to someone who did die but now lives forever in Heaven, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is available to everyone, not through AI but by the grace and mercy of God! If we have been saved by Jesus Christ we will all be able to live on in heaven after we die. We will no longer need to attempt to talk to the dead. We will be alive through faith and belief in Jesus Christ.
This is not artificial. This is the only true reality!
