“Eat Goldfish…” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

“God, please take care of Ms. Sally. Give her energy, eat Goldfish, and have Gatorade. Amen!”

My wife shared this touching prayer that my son offered on behalf of his teaching aide who was undergoing a medical procedure that morning. We did not explain the nature of the procedure to him but because she would be absent from his side that day, my son assumed she was sick. His prayer reflected what he received when he was ill. He loves his aide and wanted God to give her the best care like God gave to him.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NKJV)

My son’s honest prayer is a beautiful illustration of God’s love for us when we face hardships and tribulations. If we love another person, don’t we desire the very best for them? What better prayer is there than to ask God to bless others in the same way that we have received His blessings?

Amen!

Love and trust the Lord; seek His will in your life.
